Cash Register & POS

Account Information Service Provider

An organization authorized to compile information related to one or more payment accounts held with different account service providers, with the consent of the payment service user, and to present this information collectively on online platforms.

Acquisition

Ally-shoring

Alternative Financial Investments

Angel Investor

An individual who provides capital as well as mentorship and guidance to early-stage startups in exchange for equity ownership.

Anti Money Laundering (AML)

The set of regulations and procedures designed to prevent the transformation of proceeds from illegal activities into other assets, by concealing or legitimizing them in a way that maintains their value, avoids attracting the attention of authorities, and increases their usability.

Application Programming Interface (API)

A connection interface that allows two applications to exchange information within a specific set of rules.

Asset Management

Assets Under Management (AUM)

Blockchain

Capital Intensive

Investment in projects or industries that require significant amounts of capital, often associated with infrastructure and heavy industries.

Capital Repatriation

The process of returning invested capital from the host country to the investor's home country.

Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU)

Investments in technologies that capture carbon dioxide emissions from petrochemical processes and convert them into useful products, such as plastics or fuels.

Carbon Footprint

The total amount of greenhouse gas emissions, usually measured in CO₂ equivalents, generated by an individual, organization, or investment portfolio.

Which record the sales of a business, with technical and technological standards set by Turkish Revenue Administration.

Cross-Border Merger and Acquisition (M&A)

The acquisition of a company located in one country by an entity from another country.

Crowdfunding

The financing of a project or business idea by early-stage companies or entrepreneurs through the collection of funds from a large number of people using online platforms, with the goal of enabling the realization of the project or production idea.

Crypto Assets

Assets which can electronically produced and stored by using DLT or similar technologies, distributed over digital networks, and capable of representing value or rights.

Customs Duty Exemption

The exemption of customs duties for machinery and equipment imported from abroad within the scope of an incentive certificate.

Customs Tariff Statistical Position (GTIP)

Generally used instead of the tariff schedule, it is actually the name given to the 12-digit code in the Turkish Customs Tariff Schedule.

Data Room

A secure place that is used to store privileged data, usually for legal proceedings or mergers and acquisition transactions.

Decacorn

A company, often in the technology or software sector, with a valuation of over USD 10 billion.

Decentralized Finance (DeFi)

Depreciation

Development Financial Institution (DFI)

Also known as a development bank, it is a financial institution that provides risk capital for economic development projects on a non-commercial basis.

Digital Banking

The provision of banking services in a digital environment through electronic distribution channels, instead of physical branches.

Digital Wallet

Refers to a payment instrument presented as an electronic device, online service, or application that stores information related to the payment account or payment method defined by the customer, and provides the customer with the ability to make payments using the information related to the defined payment account or payment method.

Disinvestment

The process of selling or divesting assets or investments, often in response to changing market conditions or strategic shifts.

Dispute Resolution

The process of resolving a dispute or conflict between the investor and the host country through international arbitration.

Dispute Resolution Mechanism

Procedures outlined in investment agreements to address disputes that may arise between foreign investors and host countries.

Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT)

Technological structures where data is held distributed among participants in the system without any central authority. Although all blockchain platforms are a subset of distributed ledger technologies, not all distributed ledger technologies are blockchains. The difference between them lies in how data is distributed, verified, and recorded by participants in the network.

Divestment

The process of selling off assets, divisions, or subsidiaries as part of a strategic decision to focus on core operations or reallocate resources.

Double Taxation Agreement (DTA)

An agreement between two countries to prevent the same income from being taxed twice, reducing tax burdens on foreign investors.

Dry Powder

Money held in reserve by a venture fund or angel investor in order to be able to make investments into startups.

Due Diligence

Early VC

Electronic Money

Electronic Money Institution

A legal entity authorized to issue electronic money defined as monetary value, which is issued in exchange for received funds, stored electronically, and used to execute payment transactions, under the scope of Law No. 6493.

Emission Reduction Targets

Environmental Impact Assessment
